Salt air decides the enclosure
Two miles from the ocean, a standard painted-steel enclosure and plated hardware start failing years early. On coastal sites we spec 4X-rated enclosures and stainless mounting hardware from the start, because replacing a corroded pedestal costs more than specifying one correctly.
Long runs from the service to the parking
Club campuses, oceanfront properties, and gated communities put the electrical room a long way from where people actually park. Voltage drop and conduit routing drive the price here far more than the charger brand does.
Older beachfront services run out of room
Properties built before the current wave of renovation often sit on a service with no headroom left. A demand study under NEC 220.87 usually finds enough — and when it doesn't, load management is the cheaper answer to a service upgrade.
Beaches Energy Services, not FPL
The municipal utility out of Jacksonville Beach runs down through Ponte Vedra and Palm Valley, so this pocket of St. Johns County is not on FPL like the county around it. It is a cheap assumption to make at design and an expensive one to unwind after the gear is ordered.
